2023 Nissan Pathfinder

- Ceiling vents
- Built-in sunshades
- Car seat tilt
- IIHS Top Safety Pick+
The Exterior
The best word to describe the exterior is fresh.
- Clean, simple grille that lets the new white Nissan logo pop
- Subtle hood lines that add shape without being busy
When the Pathfinder was redesigned in 2022, Nissan really became competitive with popular SUVs like the Kia Telluride and the Hyundai Palisade.
From the side profile, this SUV really shines. The black roof rails and tasteful chrome accents strike a great balance between sporty and upscale.
The rear stays pretty simple, with wraparound taillights and very large “PATHFINDER” lettering across the back (and yes… it’s big). In 2023, Nissan released the Rock Creek edition. An off roading version designed for drivers with the desire to venture away from the pavement.
First Row
What I Loved
- Heated and ventilated front seats
- Digital gauge cluster + heads-up display
- Flat-bottom steering wheel (sporty and comfortable)
- Excellent front-row storage, including:
- Wireless charger
- USB-A, USB-C, and 12V outlet
- Deep center console
- Purse / iPad / catch-all storage area (elite mom feature)
What Could Be Better
- The mix of textures (chrome, rubber, gloss black, stitching) feels a little busy
- Gloss black surfaces = fingerprint city (especially with kids)
- Headliner feels underwhelming for a $50k+ trim
- Interior lighting is a bit dim at night
The infotainment system is updated and easy to use, but I wish Nissan would refresh their fonts and color scheme — it still feels very “early 2010s.”
Second Row
The second row is where the Pathfinder really shines for families.
It offers one of my favorite features for families, a car seat tilt! With certain car seats installed using lower anchors, the entire seat tilts forward — without uninstalling the car seat allowing easy third-row access.
Important notes:
- Works with rear-facing and forward-facing seats (within anchor limits)
- Does not operate with a child in the seat
- Available on both captain’s chairs
This feature alone adds massive flexibility for families juggling multiple car seats.
Second-Row Comfort
- Built-in sunshades
- Heated seats (Platinum trim)
- Ceiling air vents
- USB-A, USB-C, and a household outlet (pumping moms, take note)
- Sliding seats for customizable legroom
- Multiple door cupholders
- Three across friendly
Third Row
While most midsize SUVs struggle with the third row, the Pathfinder actually does pretty well.
- Comfortable for adults when the second row is adjusted
- Reclining seats
- USB port and cupholders on both sides
Would I seat three kids back there daily? Probably not.
But for carpools, cousins, or occasional third-row use — it works.
Trunk
The trunk isn't terrible... but you definitely need to consider how you plan to use the trunk to determine if this could be your daily driver.
With the third row up, a single stroller fits, but it’s tight and double strollers are a no.
With the third row down, solid cargo space for everyday life
One standout feature?
The under-floor storage! Deep, durable, and plastic-lined (perfect for muddy cleats, groceries, or life messes).
Safety
The 2024 Nissan Pathfinder is an IIHS Top Safety Pick+. It also comes loaded with safety features like
- Intelligent Forward Collision Warning
- Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection
- Lane Departure Warning
- Blind Spot Warning
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- RearView Monitor
- Rear Automatic Braking
- High Beam Assist
- Intelligent Driver Alertness
