2024 Chrysler Pacifica

For 2024, the Chrysler Pacifica gets a few meaningful updates rather than a full overhaul. The biggest changes are a refreshed Pinnacle interior with a new sepia leather color, plus two new exterior colors and expanded availability of the Road Tripper package, including on the plug-in hybrid. The Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid lineup is simplified into Select and Pinnacle trims, and there’s also a new Emergency Vehicle Alert System that can notify drivers of nearby emergency vehicles or hazards.
- Plug-In Hybrid Capability: The Pacifica is the only plug-in hybrid minivan on the market, with about 32 miles of pure EV range.
- Stow ’n Go seating: On gas models, second- and third-row Stow ’n Go makes it incredibly easy to flip from kid hauler to cargo mode without removing heavy seats (not available on hybrid or Pinnacle second row).
- FamCAM System: One of the best in the segment. You can tap individual seats and get a clear view of kids whether they’re forward- or rear-facing, which is incredibly helpful for real-life parenting.
- Thoughtful Front-Seat Layout: The screen-to-button ratio is spot on. The infotainment system is responsive, easy to navigate, and still gives you physical controls for the things you actually use while driving.
- Storage Everywhere Up Front: This van understands mom life. Between cupholders, open bins, wireless charging, and pass-through storage, there’s a place for everything you’re juggling day to day.
- Second-Row Comfort Features: Ceiling air vents, built-in sunshades, power sliding doors, and rear climate controls placed up high (instead of getting kicked on the back of the console) all make a noticeable difference.
- Fold-Down Fire TV Screens: Having screens that fold down is a big win for families using rear-facing car seats. It helps avoid install issues and reduces the risk of damaging the screens.
- Car Seat–Friendly Tilt for Third-Row Access: You can tilt the second-row seat forward with a car seat installed (using lower anchors), making third-row access much easier without uninstalling everything.
- Deep, Practical Trunk Space: Classic minivan win. The trunk is deep, the third row folds down easily, and nothing is power-operated back there so you’re not waiting on slow motors.
- Smart Power Tailgate Button Placement: The power tailgate button is on the side of the trunk, which is great for shorter parents who can’t always reach overhead buttons.
The Exterior
On the outside, the Chrysler Pacifica looks exactly like what it is—a minivan. No pretending to be an SUV, no aggressive styling tricks. It’s straightforward, practical, and very much designed around function over flash.
- Large sliding doors make loading kids and car seats easy
- Wide door openings are practical in tight parking lots
- The overall shape prioritizes interior space and cargo capacity
This isn’t a minivan you buy for curb appeal. You buy it because it works. And while it won’t turn heads, it delivers where it matters—getting families in and out comfortably and efficiently.
If you’re okay with a vehicle that fully embraces its minivan identity, the Pacifica checks that box without apology.
First Row
Screen + Buttons: The Right Balance
The infotainment screen is a good size, easy to read, and very responsive. What I really appreciate is the balance between touchscreen controls and physical buttons. You can quickly adjust climate, media, or navigation without fighting the screen while driving.
Storage Everywhere (And It Shows)
Up front, this van understands how much stuff parents carry. Between cupholders, open bins, wireless charging, a center console, and additional storage behind it, there’s a spot for all the everyday essentials. There’s not a lot of covered storage, but the grab-and-go layout works well.
Easy, Intuitive Controls
The rotary dial shifter is simple and easy to use, and everything in the driver’s area feels logically placed. You don’t have to think too hard about where things are, which matters when you’re juggling kids and distractions.
Open, Comfortable Feel
Between good visibility and the panoramic sunroof, the first row feels bright and comfortable. It’s a space designed for long days behind the wheel without feeling cramped or overly tech-heavy.
Second Row
The second row is doing a lot of heavy lifting for families, so the details really matter here. This is where comfort, tech, and car seat compatibility all collide.
Comfort Features That Actually Matter
From a comfort standpoint, the second row is thoughtfully laid out. You get:
- Ceiling air vents for better airflow to kids in car seats
- Built-in sunshades in both the second and third rows
- Power sliding doors for easier daily loading
One detail I especially like is the placement of the rear climate controls. Instead of being on the back of the center console where they get kicked constantly, they’re mounted up high, making them easier for parents to see and adjust quickly.
Screens That Work With Car Seats
The available Amazon Fire TV screens are a standout feature here, mostly because they fold down.
- Fold-down screens reduce interference with rear-facing car seats
- Less risk of screen damage over time compared to fixed screens
It’s a small design choice that makes a big difference for families using rear-facing seats.
Second Row Car Seat Setup
This is one of the Pacifica’s stronger areas from a car seat perspective.
- Both outboard seats have lower anchors and tether anchors
- Most infant seats, convertibles, and forward-facing seats install well (seat-dependent)
Even without Stow ’n Go, the Pacifica allows the second-row seat to tilt and slide forward with a car seat installed when using lower anchors. That’s a feature I always appreciate because it means you don’t have to uninstall a seat to access the third row.
That said, the manual lever requires more effort than I’d like and isn’t especially kid-friendly.
No Stow ’n Go on the Hybrid (And Why That Matters)
This is where the plug-in hybrid changes the equation.
- Hybrid models do not have Stow ’n Go seating due to battery placement
- Seats do not fold into the floor, removing a signature Pacifica feature
Stow ’n Go is especially helpful for third-row access, hauling gear, and quick interior reconfigurations, so losing it is a tradeoff families should think through carefully.
Third Row
If you plan to use the third row for kids, especially in car seats or boosters, there are some important limitations to understand before committing to the Pacifica.
Headrests Create Real Challenges
The biggest issue in the third row is the headrests. They’re aggressively angled forward and not removable, which makes it very difficult to get a proper car seat or booster install. Many boosters won’t sit flush against the seatback, and belt fit can be compromised. Chrysler’s owner’s manual allows installs with the headrest folded down, but in practice, that often creates more problems than it solves.
It’s also worth noting that second-row headrests are non-removable and protrude forward as well, which can interfere with certain car seat installs depending on the seat design.
Limited Car Seat Compatibility
This is not a “most seats will work” third row.
- Some Graco and Evenflo convertible or forward-facing seats can work, depending on the model
- Diono boosters tend to work better because they allow a gap
- You may need to replace otherwise functional car seats to make this row usable
Anchor, Tether, and Load-Leg Restrictions
The anchor setup adds another layer of limitation.
- Two sets of lower anchors are available in the third row
- A single tether anchor is shared between two seating positions, which realistically limits you to two car seats in the third row
In addition, load-leg infant seats are not allowed in the Pacifica due to the Stow ’n Go floor design. Chrysler explicitly prohibits their use, even in seating positions where you might otherwise expect compatibility.
Bottom Line
The third row can work for car seats, but only with very specific seat choices and careful planning. If you need easy, flexible third-row car seat setups, this is one of the Pacifica’s biggest drawbacks.
Trunk
The Pacifica’s trunk is one of the bright spots. With the third row up, you still get a deep cargo well that easily fits a stroller, groceries, or sports gear without feeling cramped.
When you need more space, the third-row seats fold down quickly with a simple manual pull — no power buttons, no waiting. I actually like that nothing is power back here. It’s faster, more reliable, and easier when you’re juggling kids and bags.
Another small but thoughtful detail: the power tailgate button is mounted lower inside the trunk, not up high on the liftgate. That makes it much easier to reach if you’re shorter or have your hands full, and it’s one of those everyday design choices that really matters.
Safety
The 2024 Chrysler Pacifica is an IIHS Top Safety Pick and offers a strong mix of standard and available driver-assist features across the lineup, including on lower trims.
Standard and available safety features include:
- Blind spot monitoring
- Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking
- Lane departure warning with lane keep assist
- Pedestrian Automatic Emergency Braking
- Adaptive cruise control with full stop (trim-dependent)
- LED headlights, DRLs, fog lamps, and taillights
Higher trims add features like a 360-degree surround-view camera and park assist.
Important note: seat belt pretensioners are front-row only.
